Zhou Shengda was born in Beijing in 1953. He is the leader of the Chinese Painting Unit of the Painting Institute of China, a Director of the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, and a National First Class Artist of China. He has had a passion for painting since childhood. He was admitted to the Chinese Painting Institute in 1977 and has been engaged in painting since. Over a hundred of his paintings have been published by art publishing companies in Beijing, Tianjin, Anhui, and Shanghai since 1985. He has attended many annual exhibits of Chinese paintings in the US, Japan, and Singapore, receiving great reviews from international friends. The fish created through his brushwork are painted with ease, all done in one go. They have smooth curves, well-coordinated levels of colors and shadings and a rhythmic vitality. His deep and robust foundation of painting can be evidently seen, and is praised within art circles. He enjoys a reputation as “the Saint of Fish in the Orient”!

周昇達,1953年生於北京。中國畫院國畫組組長,中國書畫研究會理事,國家一級美術師。自幼喜習繪畫,1977年考入中國畫院,專事繪畫工作。1985年後,在北京、天津、安徽、上海等美術出版社發表作品百餘幅,並多次赴美國、日本、新加坡參加中國畫年展,獲得國際友人的好評。其筆下的魚,揮灑自如,一氣呵成線條流暢,色澤濃淡相宜,氣韻生動,體現了深厚的繪畫功底,為行家所推崇,有「東方魚聖」之稱!
