Zhang Youxiang was born in Mei County, Guangdong Province, China in 1935. He is a First Class Artist of China, a professor at Guangxi University, an appointed Honorary Academician and Visiting Professor at the British Royal Academy of Arts, a Director of the World Artists of Calligraphy and Painting Association in Canada, and a Vice Dean of the China International Painting Institute. He is adept at painting carp in fine brushwork. The style of his artworks is fresh and natural, vivid and lively, and dazzling without being tacky. He has traveled to Japan and Korea to participate in exhibitions. Many of his paintings have been collected by lovers of art in the United States, France, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and other places. He has been given such honorific titles as the “Contemporary Famous Artist of Calligraphy and Painting” and a “World Famous Artist of Calligraphy and Painting” jointly by several organizations both inside and outside of China, including the World Calligraphers and Painters Association of Canada and the International Artists Association Center.
