Yu Jigao was born in Tongshan, Jiangsu Province, China in 1932. He is an outstanding master in fine-brushwork painting and a National First Class Artist of China. He is a Director of the China Artists Association, a member of the China Painting Research Institute, the Vice President of the China Hue Art Association, and the Vice President of the Peony Art of Calligraphy and Painting Committee of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The State Council of China, together with the Jiangsu Province Government, praised him as a specialist who made outstanding contributions to the development of the art and culture of China. In 1997, He held an individual exhibition at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and received a certificate of merit commending him for his exceptional achievements in traditional Chinese paintings and his great contributions to the world’s cultural exchange.
