Lu Yunian was born in Renqiu City, Hebei Province, China in 1949. He is a member of the China Artists Association and a National First Class Artist of China. He is especially skillful in fine-brushwork carp and bird-and-flower paintings. Due to the detailed and beautiful quality of his works, he has formed an artistic style of his own. He has published hundreds of artworks both inside and outside of China. Furthermore, he has won multiple awards from having participated in many major art exhibitions both inside and outside of China. For many years he has been known for his fine-brushwork paintings of fish. The fish he creates through his brush are precise in form, simple and elegant in color, subtle and refined in brushwork, and graceful, restrained, and serene in artistic conception. His use of the brush is solid but agile, creating fish that seem to be in motion as they look around charmingly. The quality of real fish is thus obtained.
