Chi Ming was born in Guxi, Anhui Province, China in 1923. He is a First Class Artist of China, a member of the Anhui Province Artists Association and a member of the China Senior Citizens’ Calligraphy and Painting Research Society. There are real international auction prices for his works. He has been engaged in the creations of ink wash paintings for over 60 years and is also a widely respected and capable painter of fish in the modern painting world. He is especially good at painting carp and is reputed to be the “Number One Painter of Carp in China.” His works were displayed in exhibits inside and outside of China many times and have won major awards. In 1985, his artworks were shown in a joint exhibit in Hong Kong with those of other Chinese painting masters, including Pan Tianshou and Shi Lu, and received great reviews. Many newspapers inside and outside of China, such as the People’s Daily, have published his artworks many times and collected his arts. He enjoys a reputation not just inside but also outside of China.

The body of each fish is plump and full, and the eyes are bright and spirited without any difference from those of real fish. The fish look lively, vigorous, and full of unbridled energy.
